‘Bargain Day Shoppers Crowd Hearn’S Store’

New York, New York, USA — 2/22/55-New York: George Washington’s Birthday was Bargain Day for Shoppers who gathered at Hearn’s department store at West 14th Street today. The biggest crowd-drawing items were television sets which went on sale for ninety-nine cents and full-length fur coats priced at five dollars. An estimated crowd of twelve-thousand bargain hunters were on hand last year when the doors opened. Mounted police keep an eye on crowd waiting on line for the store to open at 8:30 AM.
